first off.. i have to retract my last post.... see bottom
This third little one of ours gave us a good scare this week. Friday I had blood work done at my 16 w appt and on Monday, my OB called me to say that I am at a high risk for having neural defects and that I needed to see a specialist TOMORROW! Me, having 2 perfect pregnancies, was not expecting any such complication. Anyways, I discussed it with Brett and he made the decision to come with me to fort Myers even though he would miss class and our friends were sweet enough to watch our kids. We said extra extra prayers that day and hoped for the best. They took us in, where we spoke to a genetic specialist for an hour just about our families histories and if there is anything they need to take into consideration (there's not).. and then she discussed ALL of the possibilities that could fall under the umbrella of neural tube defects.. yes, I cried. We then went in for an in depth ultrasound for over an hour where we literally saw every inch of this tiny baby. She discussed as she went through all of the necessary checks and continued to give us good news (phew).. she had to tell me to breath a few times. She saw nothing wrong or abnormal in anyway. They were mostly checking for spina bifida btw and the ultrasound is 95% accurate for detection. The only thing she saw that may have thrown off my results was that my placenta's edge was removed from my uterine wall and had bled slightly into the amniotic fluid (not harmful to the babe as long as it's minor). So that's our story. We had a small and short trial and I am extremely grateful that our children are all healthy. I know exactly why Heavenly Father gave us this trial and I just want Him to know that I got it loud and clear!!! I just love my children with all if my heart!!
After all of the stress and worrying, we were able to find out the gender.. BOY! (so much for maternal instinct) but yes, another one.. 13 months apart.. I'm just going to jump on the looney train now.. lol! jk, it will be fun! :))
It's funny because I asked the tech if she was 100% sure (even though the "thing" was starring me right in the face lol) and she said that if I lived in a land with unicorns, fairies, and rainbows that it could maybe be a girl.... aka that was a dumb question Sam. it gave us a giggle though.
